Great speech yesterday by Pablo de Lora and Josu de Miguel. They were presenting in Barcelona at the Byron bookstore the magnificent book by Pablo de Lora Los derechos en broma.La moralización de la política en las democracias liberales. Josu noted that Law has hooked itself to reality and is solving concrete problems or even -why not? – creating positive emotional impacts.
Mr. De Lora reviewed “The Kindergarten State”, the bureaucracy of consolation, and the inflationary universe of rights. This is the most striking and amusing part, but there was no time to review the author’s liberal castle: moral individualism, property rights, and freedom. That is, where really “rights are trumps” (Dworkin), and we must remain strong. For instance, we should avoid the ridiculous compensation for damages after the cancellation of preventive detention or prison sentence.
